Gov. Terry Branstad fired Mike Carroll, head of Iowa's administrative department, on Tuesday just hours after The Des Moines Register published online documents that showed Carroll provided inaccurate testimony last week about an ongoing secret settlement scandal. Carroll told the Register he didn't lie and said he was fired without even speaking with the governor.
