  1. HF161 – addressing sexual abuse education and prevention in Iowa Schools – passed the House 97-0 this session. It was not brought to the Senate for consideration.
    Iowa legislators still have time to attach it to the Health Human Services budget – encouragement from their constituents… and from school leaders might bring this forward.

  2. Students need not wait for Iowa schools to incorporate topics such as sexual harassment and sexual violence into the curriculum. The national nonprofit Stop Sexual Assault in Schools (ssais.org) has a free online video for K-12 students and families called “Sexual Harassment: Not in Our School!” (ssais.org/video). It’s a student-centered video that offers simple steps and engaging activities to make schools safe learning spaces for all students.
